Saltwater Retreat

Last fall, I joined Jennifer Carr for her Saltwater Retreat in the Outer Banks, North Carolina. Despite living in the Southeast most of my life, it was my first time visiting the Outer Banks. After admiring Jenny’s photography of the area for years, I was super excited to see the beautiful coast in person and capture it for myself.  The Saltwater Retreat balanced photo opportunity and teaching, female connection, and delicious, homemade meals wonderfully.

The retreat grants a wide variety of landscape options from lighthouses and piers, to birds and beaches, at sunrise and sunset, and exploring the small town of Manteo. I am amazed by how much I fell in love with this small slice of heaven in just a few short days. I feel like I could spend many more days soaking in the beauty that the OBX offers.

Jenny has been my mentor for several years prior to attending the retreat. And I can confidently say that Jenny’s talent extends beyond her ability to create magic with her camera. As both a mentor and friend, she has a unique ability to champion women photographers on our journey to find our own voice and style - simultaneously lifting us up and challenging us to push outside our comfort zone.

Below are just a handful of my images from the Saltwater Retreat. I hope to go back to the Saltwater Retreat to create more memories of this picturesque coastal area. But more importantly, to fill my soul bonding and sharing with like minded women.
