Thanksgiving in Chicago
Almost every year we travel to the Chicago area for Thanksgiving week. This year was no exception. After arriving late Tuesday, we ventured out early Wednesday morning to the train station in Prairie Crossing to head downtown. It was a lovely fall day spent walking around with essentially no agenda. Of course, I brought my camera to capture a few of the everyday scenes of Chicago. And it is in moments like these, I remember how much I love photographing places I travel to . . . no matter if it is in the city, mountains, or at the beach. For some reason, I am less self-conscious walking around with my camera when I am traveling.
We arrived downtown at Union Station. I had seen photos of this building years ago but forgotten how beautiful it is. It was fun to see it in real life and snap a few shots before heading off to lunch. I am almost always rushed walking around downtown Chicago but I still love grabbing quick images of the windy city. I will always hold a special place for the city that I lived in the first five years of my marriage.
And while I don’t usually photograph people, I couldn’t resist capturing the joy of my niece and nephew watching the croissants as they went round and round while we visited the Chicago Starbucks Reserve.
