Visiting Italy
Our trip to Italy this past spring was one for the ages. We spent three weeks traveling from Rome to Florence, next Siena to Cinque Terre, then Venice down to Sorrento, and Positano back to Rome. It was a unique opportunity for us since my husband was in between jobs.
We decided to use a travel agency since we needed to plan it quick and easy. I typically like to plan myself so I can control everything. I appreciated the ease with which the trip was planned but I doubt I would go this route again. I love the process of researching the locations and places to stay. We did appreciate the local guides in each location who were native to their region and who were extremely knowledgable. While I am not usually a tour guide kind of traveler, we learned so much about the Roman Forum, the Colosseum, Vatican City, Italian wine regions, Cinque Terre, Capri, Pompeii, and the Amalfi Coast.
I packed minimal camera gear as I wanted to balance the experience of being in the moment with chasing the “perfect image”. I still came home with over 1500 images across the three weeks. And I am amazed that I still go into my images and find something I want to edit and share.
